after checking the cars and some playtime
- thanks again
- it is astonishing how good the low lod cars look ingame
but somehow I'm missing some textures
- hi_generic for all cars (I used last year's hi_suspension - it works but are they identical?)
- hi_cockpit_1 and hi_cockpit_2 for the high lod cars
can you please upload these shared textures? - thanks
now a problem you may encounter with the cars
the cars are rather long with rather large rear wings - on some tracks you may see artefacts (black lines behind the cars) if you use (blurred) projected shadows under the cars - GP4 can't handle certain combinations of track elevation and sun position very well (it paints really long shadows
)
here two suggestions for a possible fix
(1) f1graphics.cfg
there are two variables in the f1graphics.cfg
- Size in texels for projected shadows under each car
- Size in texels for blurred projected shadows under each car
both have a default value of 256
you can try to increase the values to 512 and then 1024
check ingame - and if the artefacts are gone all is well (check your PO if you use 1024)
a further option is to set the variable
[MAIN VIEW] Max number of shadow maps that are allowed in view UNDER CAR
to 8 (default value 4)
(2) editing <track>.gp4 with GP4Builder
only do this if editing the f1graphics doesn't help !!!
open the .gp4-file of the track and select the "Sunlight" item
in the Light Datas dialog check the first Z-Value (Direction)
decrease the value slightly (for example: track has value -0.743 then set it to -0.793) and check ingame
imho a value smaller than -0.8 works for most tracks
what are the side effects?
with the z-value you set the sun higher so the lightning of the track changes - if you decrease the value only by 0.05 that shouldn't be such a big deal
cheers
