How Wikipedia maybe screws your track up:

During working on CotA I noticed a crucial error in the current layout. I don't know who ever made the track-layout-map for Wikipedia, but he/she hasn't made a good job for sure!

Here you can see the 4-times-right-hander (turn 16, 17 and 18 of CotA) in the Wiki-version:

The most winding parts are the last two bends (red arrows). I'm pretty sure KTC used this layout as a base for the DAT-file, watch here:

At least you can see the same characteristic: Most winding parts are again the last two bends.

And now, let's got for the reality:

In reality the first two bends are the most winding ones and the exit might be possible to go flat-out through it. So, the Wikipedia-map seems to be somewhat mirrored at this point


This mistake and many other things are changed in the new DAT-file. The new DAT-file goes in testing now. It has got some bugs so far, but I think we'll be able to solve them soon before we start to edit the behaviours and the graphical part of the track .

Gracias . Yo convertí este circito a .GP4 recién y estoy viendo ahora donde la longitud falta .

--> Ellos pudieron convertir un circito de F1 2012? No se, que esto es posible.

1. Good news: I made a mistake!

I also relied on wrong data regarding the circuit length, sorry fot that!
But it's a good news, because the new DAT-file is only 192 metres too short .


2. Analysis done!

I converted the file from josekast, took my own DAT-file and put them over each other to have a look, where the 192 metres length is lost. I noticed one point beeing mainly different from reality (or at least from F1 2012-version).

The short straight after the recreated 4-times-right-hander is too short now. Lose of length: ~150 metres.
There is another difference at the turns 5 and 6 (the Esses), which causes another lose of ~40 metres, but it really isn't dramatic . The major layout is very fine.

All the other parts of the track are amazing near to reality: F1 2012 seems to have made a good job and Google Earth deliverd nice data for our new DAT-file .

I'll recreate the complete part after turn 18 to fix the length. That might improve the circuit quite much.
